When growing up, everything seem so hard. This is 10 Things I’ve Learnt Since Becoming an Adult.

When I was still a young girl I always thought life as an adult will be much more better than a the normal ordinary school girl. I thought that when I grow older I will have a good job so that I can earn my own money to buy fancy things, have a car and own a house.

But when I actually grow up, I am not sure on which level of adultery I am right now, everything seem so hard. Yes, I can have my own money and buy anything I want, make own decisions, talk about anything with my other adult friends, and went out late night without my mom worrying me where I was heading and with whom I was with.

Sound fun to you? Indeed it is. That is what I enjoyed. But every day, week and month I have to be properly prepared on all the bills I have to pay, what food I will have to eat, the time I need for myself. I was just taking a nap just now and I am in the mid of crisis with my current job and I was so stress out. When problem like this happen, you can’t really rely on people’s advice, you need to think straight and make a decision, like an adult.

So I thought why not I share the things I learnt since becoming an adult so you can have a better vision on what to come.

1. You are always tired

Trust me, you won’t be having the same energy you had like your early 20s. I will plan to take a jog on Saturday and Sunday morning, go for grocery shopping every weekend, hang out with friends every nights, watch dramas till 3 am, but at the end of the day, my body will go wrong. I will fell so sleepy. So tired. You just wish to stay at home.

2. There are so many bills to pay

Money is so important. You can’t deny that. Yes you have paid every bills, put aside the money for food and your makeup essentials, and last and worst thing happen like your car break down or there’s Black Friday coming. What is worst is you don’t realize your bills have taken half of your salary. RIP my money.

3. Not everyone will like you and you don’t have to like them

You got to meet and work with different people. You will realize some of them don’t meet with your expectation. Be it, that’s life. Go play along with them even they don’t like you. You may be making someone happy even if you are not. We just have to go with the flow. You can’t please everyone.

4. You enjoy being alone

Being an adult is stressful. Lots of thing on your head. You are busy with your job, organizing your life and you don’t have much time for yourself. Once you get a free weekend, you will appreciate the hour you have doing nothing. Even you are not that busy.

5. You have to take responsibility on your doing

A lot of thing will become you responsibility. You can’t run away from it. You can decide how and which way you want it but you can’t do everything. But after all, you’re going to have to decide what you want for your best. It sounds scary, and it is. If you fail, don’t give up. You will learn how to handle the disappointment and you will be better the next time.

6. You don’t get to control of some part of our life

Things will get messy and sometime you can’t control it. You will realize you can’t always get what you want. Sometimes, you don’t know what you’re doing. You just hoping it will get under control.

7. Nothing Is Easy

You have to work hard to get what you want. Great things won’t come in a blink of eye. I see lots of successful people in front of me. I know how hard they work. That is when I realize I need to work harder and anything is possible. Don’t make excuses, don’t just give up halfway. All your effort will pay you back, maybe not now. Don’t lose hope.

8. Few friends are better than group

Only few friend will stay by your side. You will have maybe four maybe only two friends that you can share your problem with. Say no to fake friends, you know the one that will take advantage on you. So be wise in choosing a true friend.

9. You can still be a kid

Even when you are an adult, you can still be who you are. Act like a kid, take random selfies with your friends, who cares? I still laugh out loud in public like nobody business.

10. Get over it

Something bad probably happened to you at some point. Sometimes you have to get over it or treat it as fast as you can. Don’t let it overcome your mind. Don’t let this thing break you. It is your life. At some point, you just have to move on.

Life as an adult is hard. Live like the old people saying ‘If you’re not learning, you’re not living’. Accept any challenge. Face it. Handle it independently. Make mistake, it’s okay, we are human, we are not perfect.

Make happiness on your own way and you will never regret being an adult.
